 File — Folder: 1

Content Description

From the Collection:

This collection includes three letters (21 September 1928, n. d., and 27 April 1932) from Jones in Claremont, California. In the n.d. letter he discusses his willingness to “take a crack at any head that needed it” and refers to [Joseph Nelson] Rose (1862–1928), [Nathaniel Lord] Britton (1859–1934), [Per Axel] Rydberg (1860–1931), [Edward Lee] Greene (1843–1915), and [Merritt Lyndon] Fernald (1873–1950). The 1932 letter, written in reply to an eightieth-birthday greeting by Keck, briefly mentions the botanists Jones knew over his long lifetime; uncomplimentary references are made to Greene, [Charles Russell] Orcutt (1864–1929), [Frank Lamson] Scribner (1851–1938), and [John Thomas] Howell (1903–1994). He also refers to his work in an important smelter smoke lawsuit (date not given) in Salt Lake City.
