This series is arranged alphabetically by society name and chronologically within each society. The majority of the materials relate to meetings held by societies in which Alfred Traverse was a member/officer of and include programs, circulars, meeting agendas, correspondence, paper abstracts, field trip guides, and group photographs. In addition, Traverse often presented papers at these meetings and some folders contain notes pertaining to these lectures.

All group portraits that were not duplicates have been transferred from collection #324 to the HI portrait collection (3 November 2004-JS). These photographs were accessioned as Group Portraits # 818 through #824. The portraits were transferred from various folders throughout the collection. A photocopy with the accession number was placed in the folder. All portraits that were added to the HI collection are noted on the inventory with the HI portrait collection number. Box 1 contains documentation on the activities and annual meetings (1st -20th) of the American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists (AASP) from 1968-1991. Box 2 contains materials of additional societies, mainly AIBS and the International Federation of Palynological Societies (IFPS). The materials of IFPS span the years, 1984-1997, and consist of correspondence regarding items for the IFPS archives, newsletters, and documentation on the 1st 7th International Palynological Conference (IPC).
