Lecture notes and drawings manuscript, circa 1830s, after 1837

 Item — Box: 1, Object: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The middle portion of this hand-bound volume consists of handwritten lectures (116 pp.) on pathology, apparently by a professor of medicine, covering the symptoms, anatomical characterisitcs, and treatment of various diseases. References are made to the practices of [William] Cullen, [David] Abercrombie, Willson Phillips, and especially to a Dr. Eccles. The front portion of the volume contains 73 hand-drawn plates of medicinal plants, 62 of which are in color. At the end of the volume are several drawings, some in color, of insects.

The drawings may have been done at a different time, and perhaps by a different hand, as the treatments discussed in the lectures do not frequently involve the use of medicinal plants.
