Anonymous Husbandry manuscript

 Collection
Identifier: HIBDARC-0222

Content Description

This collection contains a single manuscript by an unknown author, containing details on husbandry and farming. Little is known about its origins or purpose, as it was unpublished until the 1950s when Rachel McMasters Miller Hunt acquired it from Ellen Willmott and had it published, alongside the volume in HI Archives collection 223, in a limited private print run by the Yale University Press. It is theorized to have been intended as a reference source for family, estate workers, or others in close acquantance to the author, as it is considered too detailed to be a work for personal use.

The manuscript is 27 handwritten pages long, with the first 16 pages containing information on husbandry split up by month. Following are two sections named "Secretes for Gardening" (3 pages) and "Art of Grafting" (8 pages).
