David Grandison Fairchild (1869–1954) papers
Scope and Contents
This collection consists mainly of correspondence between Fairchild and Barbour Lathrop (1847–1927), as well as one letter to Fairchild’s wife, Marian Hubbard Graham Bell (1880–1962), from Lathrop. Included with the letters are pages of typed and handwritten transcript of these letters and two others not in this collection.

Biographical / Historical
David Grandison Fairchild (1869–1954) was an agricultural explorer for the United States Department of Agriculture, 1898–1933, and served as chief of its Section of Seed and Plant Introduction for much of that time. He was also a collaborator for its Division of Plant Introduction (1933–1935).
