Ignatius Urban (1848–1931) papers
Scope and Contents
This collection includes one pocket notebook (17 × 11cm) entitled "Itinera et vitae collectorum in Martii Flora Brasiliensis..." of 120 numbered pages with one additional page and one file folder of various sized pages of detailed notes to accompany the notebook. All is handwritten in German.

Biographical / Historical
A German taxonomist and a historian of botany, Urban was assistant to editor August Wilhelm Eichler (1839–1887) in the production of (1794–1868) Flora Brasiliensis (Leipzig and Munich, 1840–1906), which had been begun by Carl Philipp Friedrich von Martius (1794–1868). Urban became editor after Eichler's death and saw the work to its completion.
