American bryologist Nelson Lawrence T. Nelson (1862–1932) was a professor of biology at Des Moines College (present-day Des Moines University) (1909–1912); professor of biology at Presbyterian College (1912–1914) in Clinton, South Carolina; a lecturer at the University of Florida (1914–1916); a professor of biology and geology at the University of Omaha (present-day University of Nebraska Omaha) (1917–1918); professor of biology and botany at Texas A&M (1918-1921); professor of biology at Mississippi College (1923-1925) in Clinton, Mississippi; assistant professor of biology at the University of Alabama (1925-1927); and assistant professor of biology at Salem College (present-day Salem University) (1927–1930) in Salem, West Virginia.
