Biographical / Historical
Albert Edgar Lownes (1899–1978) was a U.S. businessman, naturalist, and historian who taught the history of science as a lecturer at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island (1946–1976). He was especially known for his expansive collection of books on science and the history of science, which became the Albert E. Lownes Collection of Significant Books in the History of Science at the Brown University Library.
