This collection consists of George Booth Van Schaack's personal and professional papers from early adulthood until shortly before his death. The bulk of the collection is correspondence, both with his family and friends as well as with professional contacts throughout his research career. There are also article reprints, personal diaries, legal documents, and handwritten notes. Beyond the standard paper materials, there is also a box of various photographs and negatives and 2 card files. The collection was received from George Van Schaack in 1982.

Laura Boyd apparently cared for Eva Van Schaack while she was recovering from an illness. She wrote letters for Eva, letting the family know of her progress. Several letters also include notes from Eva herself.
